Big Red Run Experience

I had some specific goals coming in to the run and a lot of them were related more to the journey of getting there, training appropriately and consistently was one of these goals and I lost close to 25kgs just in the training process.  I was very well prepared but found the mental challenge quite difficult when I wasn’t able to run the pace I had trained for, due to injury, and then suffering heat exhaustion from the exposure.  The resilience to get out of bed each morning was incredible and feeling my body get used to running through pain was amazing.  There was a lot to learn every day about yourself and the other competitors and they definitely made it for me as did the volunteers who were the most inspirational.
