Having a good team of volunteers is integral to making Big Red Run a success. There are a wide variety of roles, to suit volunteers of all walks of life. Volunteers will have an amazing experience in the outback for the week, and will get to be included in all the fun, so it's a great way to participate and lend a helping hand at the same time!

Some volunteer roles that require filling are:

Camp Staff - general tasks around camp including setting up the runner tents, officials / timing tent, medical tent, toilets, water supply etc.

Traffic Marshals - work with event organisers to help organise safe vehicle movements between camps and checkpoints. Marshal the 4WD track crossing points that the runners will use.

Course Setters - place the course markers before each stage.

Fore-Runners - check the markers just before use.

Sweeps - follow the last runners and clear the course markers.

Medical Team (Doctors, Paramedics, First Aiders, Nurses) - work with the medical and safety directors to provide runner monitoring, preventative health care, first aid and medical response to runners on the course and in camp.

General Duties & Administration - assist with event administration and coordination, and any other general duties that arise during the event.

Photographer - take interesting and exciting quality photos of the event and competitors.

Volunteers are welcome to bring their own 4WD's, however if you don't own one, we are able to transport you around the course as needed.

So what's in it for you?!?

As a volunteer you will receive a Big Red Run shirt, tent accommodation, pre and post race dinners, event entertainment including the John Williamson Sunset Concert and inspirational talks by Pat Farmer and of course you get to be involved in the inaugural Big Red Run.
