The Big Red Run is the first major fundraising event for the Born to Run Foundation. Participants in the Big Red Run will be required to achieve a minimum fundraising commitment. You will be able to fulfill this commitment through obtaining donations for the foundation which will be conducted in a simple on line environment.
If you would like to support any of our competitors by making a donation towards their fundraising commitment, please search for them on the Everyday Hero fundraising website, and kindly make a contribution.
The fundraising system is now open and ready for competitors to begin collecting donations, or depositing funds raised through fundraising events you have organised. To set up your fundraising page, please follow this link to Everyday Hero and follow the simple steps to get set up.
Here are some top tips to make reaching your fundraising goal a walk in the park compared to making your way to the top of Big Red!
Make it Personal - Personalise your fundraising page by adding your photo and changing your fundraising target to let everyone know how much you are aiming to raise. Tell your story, explain why you are supporting the event and what a cure would mean to you.
Kick Start Donations - if you want to encourage others to back you, the best way to start is by “backing yourself” with the first donation! The first donation often sets the tone for other donations, so think BIG!
Share - Simply share your fundraising page on Facebook, Twitter or via email. By linking into your social networks, the word will spread far and wide! You may wish to use our template as a guide when asking for support, just copy and amend as needed. We all live very busy lives, and many people might intend to support you but don't get around to it straight away. That's why it's worthwhile asking for support a couple of times. Thank - Don't forget to thank your supporters for their contributions and let them know how they have helped.
HAVE FUN! - Get creative with different ways to obtain support. There are many different ways to get everyone involved and raise funds at the same time. Think cake stalls, game nights, sausage sizzles... The list is endless!!! Because of the unique nature of the event, you might consider being as unique as possible with your fundraising. Think about the distance you will be completing and be creative with it. For example if you have registered for the 42km Big Red Dash set yourself a target of finding 42 people to donate $42 each, and you will raise $1764 before you know it!

The minimum fundraising commitment to participate in the Big Red Run will be $1,500. However we will be encouraging all participants to set fundraising goals of at least $2,500.
Fundraising commitments for the Big Red Dash and the Born to Run 100, will be $750 however again we would encourage you to set much higher fundraising goals than this.
All donations made to the Born to Run Foundation are tax deductible for Australian residents.
Those participants who achieve very substantial fundraising goals on behalf of the Born to Run Foundation will be entitled to a full or partial refund of their Big Red Run event entry fees, if they wish to claim this benefit. Full details can be found here.
