A great feature of the Big Red Run is the camaraderie shared at the campsite, between competitors and volunteers during the week.
There is a big communal campfire going each night and a range of entertainment and talks are held for those who are interested to listen.
For 2014, there will be inspiration talks by a range of people, including
- Lucas Trihey – on the first ever solo unassisted 400km crossing through the remote centre of the Simpson desert in 2006.
- Pat Farmer on his record Simpson Desert run and Pole to Pole run
- Dr Glenn Singleman – on some of his amazing base-jumping and other adventures.
- Matt and Greg Donovan, on Team Born to Runs incredible 2012 4 Deserts Grand Slam
as well as others yet to be announced, with some talks coming from the competitors in the 2014 Big Red Run itself.
There will be some live singing and music around the campfire, plus music at the campsite to keep the mood upbeat.
There will also be a big screen (5m * 3m) at campsite where some of the event action will be shown, in both photos and films on a regular basis
This is all part of the Big Red Run experience..
