- Encourage, inspire and motivate people of all ages and backgrounds to improve their mental and physical health through running and exercise.
- Improve the public awareness of diabetes and depression, with particular emphasis on exercise and fitness as a component of managing these diseases.
- Development a range of tools and support services which will help Type 1 and Type 2 diabetics, and people with depression and other mood disorders to incorporate exercise into their lives to improve their physical fitness and mental health, which will in turn reduce the side effects and complications of their disease.
- Fund medical research, with an emphasis on finding a cure for Type 1 diabetes. Work with the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation (JDRF) to identify suitable and promising research projects that have the potential to progress towards a cure for Type 1 diabetes.
The Born to Run Foundation has set an goal of developing a business model to enable it to make a $5 million funding commitment towards Type 1 diabetes research.
